# Update contact

Update the fields you send; omitted fields are unchanged. The email address cannot be changed.

Scope: `send`

**Path parameters**

- `id` (string, required): Contact ID (con_...).

**Body** (JSON)

- `first_name` (string): New first name, max 100 characters.
- `last_name` (string): New last name, max 100 characters.
- `status` (string): subscribed, unsubscribed, bounced or complained.
- `attributes` (object): Replaces the whole attributes object (keys are not merged).

**Errors**

- `unauthenticated` (401): Missing or invalid API key.
- `invalid_request` (400): Body is not valid JSON, has an unknown field, or a field has the wrong type.
- `insufficient_scope` (403): The API key is missing the send scope.
- `not_found` (404): Resource does not exist or belongs to a different account.
- `validation_failed` (422): status is not one of the allowed values, or a name is over 100 characters.
